Halfway between the spring equinox and the summer solstice, Lá Bealtaine or Mayday, is one of the two greatest festivals in the ancient Celtic calendar. Bealtaine celebrates the renewal of all growing things like herbs, flowers, trees and also the fertility rites of summer. It has survived from a time when the Celts lived close to the land and in harmony with the natural environment.
At Natural Ireland we celebrate all these things also. Like the ancients, we use only natural ingredients in making our natural skin care products.
The name Bealtaine is believed to come from the ancient Celtic words Bel Taine meaning “bright fire”, which explains the origin of bonfires burning on the eve of Mayday – a tradition still practiced in modern times.
